About the Role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking a Principal Medical Education Officer to lead and enhance our medical education program. This is a permanent part-time opportunity (16 hours per week), offering flexibility in working days.
This pivotal role will drive the continuous improvement, quality, and accreditation of education and training for prevocational doctors, ensuring alignment with national standards and best practice.
Salary range: $62.74 - $67.20 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doing:
Identify and deliver education and training requirements for PGY1/PGY2 doctors in line with national frameworks and accreditation standards
Provide expert advice and support to the Prevocational Medical Education Committee on junior doctor education matters
Lead assessment frameworks, ensuring consistent, valid performance evaluation aligned with national guidelines
Coordinate accreditation processes, documentation and stakeholder engagement to maintain compliant rotations and programs
Develop, implement and evaluate junior doctor education programs, orientation and supervisor training initiatives
Monitor program quality through evaluations, reporting and continuous improvement of education systems and resources
Support workforce capability by managing education systems, supervising staff development and addressing performance, IMG needs and training outcomes
About you
We are looking for a professional with a passion for developing educational programs, strong strategic capabilities, and a focus on compliance and standards. Ideal candidates will have:
A bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Health, or a related discipline (a clinical background is desirable but not essential).
Strong team management skills and ability to lead by example
High-level communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Expertise in accreditation standards and policies affecting medical education.
A solid understanding of adult learning theories and practices, including e-learning and interprofessional education.
Proficiency in using data to drive program improvements and evaluate outcomes.
