About the role
Mater Health is currently seeking applications for a UQ Mater Fellow in Medicine to join the team in a full-time max term contract until February 2027.
The UQ Mater Fellow in Medicine will co-ordinate teaching and assessment activities in Medicine for UQ MD program students on the Mater campus. In conjunction with this, this role will allow flexible development of research and clinical interests in the medical discipline of the Fellow’s choice. Office facilities for this role will be located within the UQ Mater Clinical School at Mater South Brisbane.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Key accountabilities for this role include:
Development, supervision, and management of UQ MD student educational programs of teaching and assessment in Medicine – principally Years 3 and 4 of the UQ MD program.
Encouragement of participation of other Medical Registrars and junior staff in teaching and assessment activities.
Regular direct input to the Head of UQ Mater Clinical Unit, Director of Medicine and Phase 1 (Years 1 and 2) Lead, UQ Mater Clinical Unit.
Direct personal involvement in teaching and assessment at Mater Health at all levels of the UQ MD program.
Coordination of UQ student exams in collaboration with the UQ Student Coordinators.
Participation in UQ committees for Academy of Medicine and Mater Clinical Unit.
Collaboration with the Chief Medical Registrar in organisation of medical registrar activities and FRACP exam (secondary role, “cross cover”).
Personal research activities in conjunction with the relevant specialty / subspecialty of Internal Medicine.
Participation in clinical activities of the relevant specialty / subspecialty of Medicine at a level appropriate for qualifications and specialist registration status.
Continuing self-education including attendance at relevant conferences and self-directed learning and professional development in line with RACP requirements.
Follow hospital practices and demonstrate initiative aligned to ensuring the safest possible environment for patients and staff.
Actively participate in outcome reviews and audits and participate in organisational systems improvement, including committees.
Lead and manage staff by fostering and committing to patient safety and quality in the delivery of educational activities, research and health care by maintaining and evaluating safety and quality practices and initiatives.
About you
To be successful in your application, you will have:
Must have general registration with AHPRA in good standing.
Whilst the job is ideally suited to candidates who have successfully completed RACP Divisional Written Examination and Divisional Clinical Examination, this is not mandatory.
A specialty area of interest in Medicine relevant to Mater Health required.
Interest in and commitment to medical education activities essential.
Weekend work required for assistance with Medical Student assessment activities, FRACP exams as well as regular participation in rostered weekend clinical duties.
Development of a research interest desirable.
