About the role

Mater is seeking a dedicated Senior Risk & Compliance Specialist to join our team at the Newstead office. This permanent, part-time position plays a crucial role in supporting the Mater Foundation by identifying, assessing, and escalating key risk and compliance issues.

The successful candidate will help ensure consistent adherence to applicable laws, internal policies, and established standards, safeguarding the integrity and reputation of the organisation.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and implement targeted risk management strategies tailored to Mater Foundation’s operations to effectively identify, assess, and mitigate business risks.
  • Proactively monitor and evaluate emerging risks and potential threats, providing timely advice and taking necessary actions to manage risks within organisational risk appetites.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation, coordinating management responses, and tracking control measures and remediation efforts.
  • Assess privacy, data governance, and regulatory impacts of proposed technology changes and system integrations, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure risks are identified and mitigated prior to go-live.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Mater Foundation’s Data Governance Framework by partnering with internal teams and the Data Governance Forum to uphold data quality, access controls, and lifecycle management standards.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in business, law or finance or related field
  • Approximately 3-5 years experience managing or involved with compliance programs, interacting with regulatory agencies, and implementing risk management strategies.
