About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator to join our team based at South Brisbane. This position is a permanent part-time role, working 23 hours per week across a negotiated three or four day work week.  

Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As a Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator, you will report to the Senior Manager of the Mater Volunteers team. The team holds a proud record of achievement in both volunteer program management and development. On a weekly basis you will be responsible for managing the recruitment, selection and placement of volunteers into the Mater Volunteers program alongside supporting existing volunteers with role changes and other tasks relating to our programs recruitment functions.   

Through your work you will create a volunteer community committed to Mater’s mission and values, who undertake their duties safely and in the spirit of care and compassion. 

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain a sound understanding of the program to assist in recruiting the right volunteer into the right role
  • Maintain accurate and up to date volunteer records in accordance with Mater Volunteers’ policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain the documentation and implementation of policies, procedures and forms for the recruitment of volunteers
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of Mater Volunteers through supportive and positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, patients and their families
  • Maintain open and effective lines of communication with Mater Volunteers staff and other stakeholders as needed
  • Recognise and reward volunteers for their time commitment, compassionate care and delivery of quality services
  • Prepare regular reports detailing recruitment statistics, new initiatives and emerging issues
  • Promote volunteering during significant recognition days including National Volunteer Week and International Volunteer Day
  • Represent Mater in relevant forums and meetings in relation to volunteering

 

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • The ability to communicate effectively with staff and volunteers, build meaningful relationships, manage conflict, provide honest feedback and engage in empathetic and sometimes difficult conversations
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate and build rapport with people from all age groups and diverse cultural and professional backgrounds
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities to deliver project outcomes
  • A demonstrated ability to manage databases, use a range of IT tools, maintain accurate records and create procedures and guidelines
  • An understanding of healthcare and the risks and challenges associated with volunteering in this environment
  • Previous recruitment experience within the healthcare environment is advantageous
