About the role
Mater is looking for a Senior Research Officer to join the Queensland Centre of Excellence in Autism and Intellectual Disability Health Team! This maximum term, full-time role will be based at our South Brisbane campus.
Salary range: $53.04 - $62.98 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You will lead and coordinate the evaluation of the Centre and contribute to high quality research to improve the health and well-being of people with intellectual disability and Autistic people. You will achieve this by:
Lead the design and day-to-day management of the evaluation of the Centre using quantitative and qualitative methods, working with minimal oversight and in consultation with the leadership team.
Lead ethics and governance applications and ensure compliance with all regulatory and organisational requirements.
Lead data collection, management, analysis and interpretation to produce high‑quality research outputs.
Lead the application of co‑design principles and ways of working to ensure meaningful input from people with intellectual disability and Autistic people across each stage of research projects.
Prepare high‑quality written documents and presentations that interpret findings and provide clear conclusions and recommendations for diverse audiences.
Work collaboratively with stakeholders, including clinicians, consumers, and support people, to progress the aims of the QCEIDAH and contribute to translational research outcomes that influence practice and service delivery.
Manage reporting requirements and proactively identify and address delays, risks, and challenges.
Represent the Centre at relevant conferences and events and Attend relevant training programs and mandatory educational programs, workshops, conference and promotional functions.
About you
You will have a PhD in the area of Intellectual and Developmental Disability, Mental Health or related field. You will also meet the below criteria:
Demonstrated ability to independently lead the design, conduct, analysis and interpretation of mixed-methods health service research.
Proven ability to conduct healthcare service evaluations informed by appropriate methodological frameworks including the ability to work with service level data and interpret complex datasets.
Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative research using established methodologies.
Demonstrated experience independently managing research or evaluation projects, including planning, stakeholder coordination, monitoring progress, and proactively addressing risks and delays.
Experience preparing and submitting research ethics and governance applications, including managing compliance requirements.
Highly developed interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to negotiate, liaise and build effective relationships with clinicians, consumers, support people, researchers and other stakeholders.
Experience working in health services, disability services, or government settings, as well as contributing to or leading competitive grant applications, is desirable but not essential.
