About the role Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane (MYAHCB) is seeking an Advanced Trainee in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine to join our multidisciplinary team in a 6-month maximum term full-time position .
This accredited training position provides a unique opportunity to gain experience across a diverse range of adolescent and young adult health services, working with young people experiencing substance use concerns, chronic health conditions and complex psychosocial needs. The position is accredited with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and is supervised by experienced Adolescent and Young Adult Physicians.
Beyond clinical practice, this role offers opportunities to participate in teaching, research and quality improvement activities, while contributing to the education and mentorship of junior colleagues. This is an exciting opportunity for a trainee looking to develop advanced skills in adolescent and young adult medicine within a supportive and innovative healthcare environment.
Salary range: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will:
Provide assessment, treatment and ongoing care for adolescents and young adults across inpatient, outpatient and residential settings.
Deliver healthcare services to young people with substance use concerns within a therapeutic residential program and through community follow-up.
Support the management of adolescents and young adults with chronic and complex health conditions.
Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
Participate in teaching, education and mentoring activities for junior medical staff and students.
Contribute to research, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
Develop advanced clinical knowledge and skills in adolescent and young adult medicine under the supervision of experienced specialists.
Foster strong partnerships with patients, families, carers and external service providers to support optimal health outcomes.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of adolescents and young adults and committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. You will enjoy working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and be eager to further develop your expertise in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine.
You will also demonstrate:
Completion of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Basic Physician Training, including successful completion of both written and clinical examinations.
Current registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA.
Appointment to, or completion of, an appropriate Advanced Training program.
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex presentations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with young people, families, carers and healthcare professionals.
A commitment to teaching, learning and continuous professional development.
The ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.
