About the role

Mater Young Adult Health Centre is seeking an experienced Residential Coordinator to join the Clarence Street ADAWS (Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Service) program in this permanent, full-time role.

A structured 5-bed, 24-hour residential service supporting young people aged 13 to 21 experiencing substance use-related harms. This role is responsible for the safe and effective delivery of the residential program, encompassing physical care, recreational activities and structured therapeutic groups, ensuring it remains evidence-based, responsive to the needs of vulnerable youth, and integrated with other service programs.

Clarance Street ADAWS accepts referrals from across Queensland and forms part of the broader Mater Young Adult Health Centre, which offers a continuum of services including a longer-term residential program (Thread), specialist youth outreach, a drop-in Day Program, and parent psycho-education and support through individual, couple, and group interventions.

Salary range: $70.58 - $76.63 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As a key member of the leadership group, the coordinator will manage a multidisciplinary team including Youth Workers, Residential Support Workers and a Clinical Nurse, overseeing rostering, recruitment, clinical supervision and training, while participating in an on-call roster to provide after-hours support.

• Provide expert clinical leadership and interventions for young people withdrawing from substances within a safe, evidence-based residential program
• Lead and support a multidisciplinary team, managing rostering, recruitment, supervision, and fostering a positive team culture
• Deliver client-centred, culturally sensitive, and developmentally appropriate care, including for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth
• Manage program operations, budget, compliance, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with consumers, carers, external services, and stakeholders to ensure integrated, accessible care
• Ensure clear performance expectations, accountability, and professional development for team members, embedding inclusion and respectful responses to feedback

About you

The ideal candidate will have an Allied Health or Nursing qualification with relevant experience and ability to lead a multidisciplinary team.

• Postgraduate qualifications in addiction or mental health highly desirable
• Experience in working with young people who have experienced harms related to substance use
• Registered health practitioners are exempt from Blue Card requirements; all other staff must hold a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
• Queensland C Class driver’s licence and First Aid Training (minimum Emergency Care Course) required
• Participation in an on-call roster providing after-hours support for Clarence Street residential services
