About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Administration Officers to join our Ward & Inpatient Services team in a casual capacity. Located in the heart of South Brisbane, Mater Hospital Brisbane has been providing exceptional care to the Queensland community for more than 100 years and is home to a busy 24-hour Emergency Department, medical, surgical and cancer services, as well as intensive care and specialist inpatient units.
As part of our Ward & Inpatient Services team, you'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our inpatient wards, working alongside multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure patients and their families receive a welcoming, efficient and compassionate experience from admission through to discharge. With flexible casual shifts and the opportunity to work across a variety of clinical areas, this is an excellent opportunity to build your healthcare administration career within one of Queensland's leading hospitals.
Salary range: $32.02 - $37.35 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As an Administration Officer, you'll provide high-quality administrative support that helps ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of Ward & Inpatient Services. You will:
- Welcome and assist patients, visitors and healthcare professionals with a friendly and professional approach.
- Provide reception and front-of-house administrative support.
- Maintain accurate patient records through data entry, filing, scanning and document management.
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing correspondence and general administrative tasks.
- Support ward operations by working collaboratively with nursing, medical and allied health teams.
- Assist with rostering and other administrative processes as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while delivering exceptional customer service.
About you
You're an organised and adaptable administrator who enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment and takes pride in delivering outstanding customer service. You will bring:
- Previous administration or customer service experience, ideally within healthcare (highly desirable).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centred approach.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new information systems.
- A proactive, positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- The flexibility to work a variety of casual shifts across a 24/7 roster as required.
