About the role

Mater Hospital Springfield has an exciting opportunity for experienced Registered Nurses to join our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) in full-time or part-time (minimum 0.6 FTE), permanent positions, commencing September 2026.

Working within our modern perioperative service, you'll play a key role in providing exceptional post-anaesthetic care across this diverse surgical caseload, while being part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team committed to outstanding patient outcomes.

Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As a valued member of our PACU team, you will deliver safe, patient-centred care while supporting positive clinical outcomes and an exceptional patient experience. You will:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from anaesthesia following a variety of surgical procedures.
  • Perform ongoing patient assessment, monitoring and timely clinical intervention throughout the recovery phase.
  • Collaborate with anaesthetists, surgeons and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe and effective patient care.
  • Advocate for patients and provide compassionate care that supports their physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to evidence-based practice, infection prevention and quality standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, education and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment that promotes excellence in perioperative care.

About you

You are an experienced PACU nurse who thrives in a fast-paced perioperative environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care. You will bring:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated recent experience working within a Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) is essential.
  • Experience caring for obstetric and/or paediatric patients is highly desirable.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to recognise and respond to deteriorating patients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to patient care.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety and continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a high standard of professional practice.
