Join one of Australia's largest and most experienced healthcare providers and take the next step in your midwifery /and nursing career. Our Programs are offered on a permanent basis (up to 64 hours per fortnight), commencing from January 2027 , providing a seamless transition into a Registered Midwife position on completion.
At Mater, you will be supported every step of the way by experienced senior clinicians, educators and professional development teams dedicated to helping you grow your skills and confidence in practice.
Salary: $44.06 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
About You
We are looking for passionate and motivated newly qualified registered midwives and dual degree graduates who are eager to learn, build confidence and make a difference for women, babies and families.
You will thrive at Mater if you are committed to professional growth, value teamwork and are excited to develop your skills in a supportive healthcare environment.
To be eligible, you will have completed a Bachelor of Midwifery or a Bachelor of Midwifery and Nursing within the past 12 months and have less than six months (or 900 hours) of post-graduate experience as a Registered Midwife and/or a Registered Nurse .
What is included in the programs? Please note that program availability varies by site. Where applicable, applicants holding dual degree qualifications will also be considered for the Midwifery program.
Midwifery Program: Gain extensive experience in midwifery through placements at Mater Mothers' Hospital, working in up to four core clinical areas including birth suite, antenatal clinic, high-risk pregnancy unit and postnatal unit.
Dual degree Program:
Designed to help you solidify your foundational knowledge and skills in both midwifery and nursing, this 18-month program includes two dedicated clinical placements:Midwifery – 12 months Gain extensive experience in midwifery through placements at Mater Mothers' Hospital, working in up to four core clinical areas including birth suite, antenatal clinic, high-risk pregnancy unit and postnatal unit.
Nursing – 6 months Complete a dedicated 6-month nursing placement, providing you with a well-rounded skillset to complement your midwifery rotation.
