About the role

Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast is seeking an Acting Clinical Nurse to work within our inpatient Oncology team. This position will be employed on a maximum term 12 month contract, 32 hours per week. Mater has finalised the strategic acquisition of Healthscope’s Gold Coast Private Hospital, this is a significant milestone in Mater’s commitment to delivering exceptional and compassionate care to Queensland communities.

Based at our Gold Coast Campus, this role will be part of our state-of-the-art 339 bed facility located in Southport. This facility was established in 2016 and offers a wide range of specialities across Emergency, Medical Services, Orthopaedics, Bariatrics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Cardiac Care and Oncology. 

Salary range: $57.48 - $61.55 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Whilst maintaining the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:

  • Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and the continuum of care
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
  • Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision

About you

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Minimum of 4+ years post graduate experience in oncology or haematology
  • Leadership and team leader experience
  • Post graduate Diploma or higher (desirable)
  • Demonstrating clinical expertise and knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy administration and central venous line management.
  • Experience with nursing palliative patients and those undergoing Radiation Therapy treatments is essential.
  • Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Comprehensive assessment skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and facilitate management and workloads
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement process, coupled with the proven ability to initiate, coordinate and evaluate quality improvement measures
