About the role
We are seeking a Hospitality Services Assistant to join our friendly team at Mater Private Hospital Mackay in a casual position.
This role plays a vital part in supporting the day-to-day hospitality operations of the hospital, helping to create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Salary range: $32.83 - $35.39 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You will support the smooth operation of hospital hospitality services across multiple areas, including housekeeping, catering, linen, and waste management.
- Deliver high-quality housekeeping services in line with hospital policies and standards
- Assist with food preparation, delivery, and service while following food safety guidelines
- Collect, distribute, sort, and manage clean and soiled linen safely
- Dispose of and transport general and clinical waste in accordance with safety procedures
- Use equipment safely, report faults promptly, and apply risk management practices
- Contribute to a safe, tidy, and welcoming hospital environment
- Work collaboratively with the hospitality team to support patient and consumer satisfaction
About you
You are a reliable and positive team member who takes pride in delivering quality service in a healthcare environment.
- Previous experience in a hospitality, housekeeping, or similar role
- Experience working in a healthcare environment is desirable
- Certificate II in Hospitality (or equivalent) is desirable
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Sound understanding of hygiene, safety, and infection control principles
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
- Friendly communication style and ability to engage with a wide range of people
