About the role

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Registered Nurses – Paediatrics and Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) to join our casual pool. Whether you are passionate about paediatrics or neonatal critical care, we have flexible opportunities to suit your skills and lifestyle.

Based at our Springfield campus, these roles are part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield, which opened in early 2026. This state-of-the-art facility meets the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency, medical and surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus 25% casual loading plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As a Registered Nurse in the Paediatrics Inpatient wards or the Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU), you will become an integral part of our multidisciplinary team. You will provide comprehensive nursing care, including patient advocacy, addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in a safe, efficient and patient-centred manner to enhance optimal patient outcomes.

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to paediatric and/or neonatal patients
  • Promote safety, security and integrity for patients and staff
  • Adhere to infection control policies and maintain confidentiality
  • Engage in activities to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction
  • Comply with organisational policies and guidelines
  • Enhance professional development and mentor less experienced staff
  • Value research in improving nursing outcomes
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and other health professionals
  • Support and encourage patient and family decision-making in healthcare
  • Accept accountability for actions and ensure communication is professional and ethical
  • Maintain and develop your knowledge base and competence in nursing practice

About you

We are searching for Registered Nurses with a passion for Paediatric and/or Neonatal Critical Care to seamlessly join our casual pools and hit the ground running, providing exceptional care for our patients and their families.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions) and minimum 12 months postgraduate experience
  • Demonstrated nursing experience in paediatrics and/or NCCU
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skills
  • Strong focus on family-centred care and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to continuous learning, quality improvement and best practice principles
