About the role

BaptistCare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Officer  to join our team. This role will be responsible for actively completing the hands on  maintenance and property support services across both Kitty Doyle Apartments and Gimbawali Place. The successful candidate will ensure that all buildings, equipment, and grounds are maintained to the highest standards, in compliance with current regulations and BaptistCare’s quality standards.

  • Perform both reactive and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep of buildings, plant, equipment, furniture, fittings, gardens, lawns, and carparks
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Social and Affordable housing regulations and legislation and other relevant regulations
  • Work closely with Site Managers and the Area Manager (Property) to deliver maintenance services
  • Maintain accurate records, and ensure the maintenance of site vehicles, plant, and machinery
  • Liaise with contractors, tradespersons, suppliers, and volunteers to ensure all work is completed to BaptistCare’s standards

The role is full time and is divided between the two sites as follows : 

  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from  8am to 4pm at Gimbawali
  • Tuesday and Thursday at Kitty Doyle either 7am or 8am start till 3 or 4pm

About Kitty Doyle Apartments: Kitty Doyle Apartments is a thriving community of seniors. The complex consists of two buildings with 79 one and two-bedroom apartments. Residents enjoy beautifully landscaped gardens, a BBQ area, a community centre, and a veggie garden. The apartments offer stunning views of the city, Canada Bay, and the inner west from higher floors, while ground floor apartments feature tranquil garden outlooks

About Gimbawali Place: Gimbawali Place is BaptistCare’s largest social and affordable community housing complex. It consists of 162 one, two, and three-bedroom apartments for people over 55 and single-parent families who are still in the workforce. The complex features panoramic views of Sydney, Parramatta, and Homebush from some apartment balconies, a central courtyard, children's playground, community space with a kitchen, communal lounge area, basement carpark, and landscaped surrounds

About you

To be considered for this role you should have hands on experience in a maintenance role performing both preventative and reactive maintenance tasks. You should also have

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Relevant Trade Qualification - highly regarded
  • Demonstrated commitment to Work Health and Safety
  • Experience working with  contractors
  • Have empathy, flexibility and patience
  • Sound computer literacy in Word, Excel and Outlook and experience using a CMMS (recommended)
  • Commitment to upholding BaptistCare’s values and standards.
  • Current Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • NSW Working with Children Check for paid employment purposes
