About the role:

BaptistCare is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist to join our residential aged care team at Gracehaven, Rockingham, a 98-bed facility, offering 15 hours per week. Depending on your location, a pool car may be available for travel to Rockingham, which can be reserved in advance and collected from our Belmont head office.

In this role, you will assess residents to identify their capabilities and develop personalised care plans that support their physical and emotional well-being. You will work closely with the Lifestyle Coordinator to develop and review programs that promote residents’ independence and quality of life. You will also provide leadership and clinical supervision to the Lifestyle Coordinator and Therapy and Leisure Partners to ensure care plans are effectively implemented.

Your responsibilities will include conducting assessments, monitoring residents’ needs, and building trusting relationships with residents based on dignity and respect. You will listen to family concerns, provide guidance on changing needs, and refer for additional support when necessary. About you:

  • Hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary Occupational Therapy practices, particularly within the aged care sector.
  • Knowledgeable about the issues and challenges faced in aged care and passionate about applying your skills in this field.
  • Skilled at working within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to care planning and delivery through effective collaboration and negotiation.
  • Thrive in team environments, working alongside other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
  • Able to connect with older people, demonstrating empathy, understanding, and respect in all interactions.
  • Committed to providing care that maintains dignity and quality of life, ensuring clients feel heard, valued, and supported.
