About the opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to lead the Faculty of Health’s technical and operational functions. This senior role provides strategic and operational leadership to the faculty, with oversight of designated faculty spaces/laboratories, including the UC Health Clinics, and the University of Canberra Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the technical services team to ensure safe, efficient operation of faculty spaces/laboratories
  • Oversee building operations, inventory, security, and space management
  • Liaise with faculty and Canberra Health Services to coordinate teaching and shared space usage
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, radiation licensing, and university policies
  • Manage technical budgets, procurement, and equipment maintenance
  • Provide strategic advice on infrastructure, resource planning, and service improvements
  • Represent the faculty in internal and external committees and forums
  • Collaborate with Campus Estate and university business units to align operations with strategic goals

Requirements:

This role is ideal for a proactive leader with strong technical, compliance, and facilities management experience, and a passion for supporting health education and research.

About you:

You will be an inclusive and collaborative manager with experience working within a technical team and a strong appreciation for the value of effective technical support. Your background will include leading teams, supporting the day-to-day operations of laboratories across the faculty, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and risk assessments.

This role also requires demonstrated experience in managing budgets and providing sound financial oversight.
