Position Title: Senior Associate Director-Charter Schools Office

Department:  Charter Schools

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:             

FLSA Status:   Exempt = not eligible for overtime

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.

Salary: Targeted Salary Range: $65,400-$71,800

Travel: 10-25%

 

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Serve as representative for the NMU Charter Schools Office at events such as public school academy
board meetings, annual Charter Day at the Capital, state-wide councils (e.g., Michigan Council of Charter
School Authorizers), and national-level conferences (e.g., National Association of Charter School
Authorizers). Responsible for initiating and creating new programs including budget oversight of the
Young Wildcat Scholars program and innovative programs in alignment with Charter Schools Office
requirements or improvement efforts. Lead team responsible for legislative updates, board policy, and
professional development. Responsible for performance quality control and assessment for academy
school improvement planning. Design training, professional development, and support services for
charter school staff to improve performance. Assist in reviewing and evaluating academy performance
with educational goals and programs concerning school improvement and charter contracts. Responsible
for serving as Director in the Director's absence.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Master's Degree

Discipline/Degree Area:  Education Leadership or related field

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: 

Required Minimum Work Experience:  Five years of K-12 experience including both teaching and administrative work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 

Knowledge of principles and methods for quality control, curriculum, and training design, teaching and
instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations, a wide range of education stakeholders, and senior administrative colleagues.
Budget experience.
Excellent oral and written communication and comprehension skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Time management skills.

 

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 

Educational Specialist or Doctorate Degree.
Experience working in or with public schools and charter authorizers in Michigan
Research and assessment experience.
Experience leading large-scale multi-day programs for 300+ people including working with on-campus resources and off-site partners (e.g., transportation, housing, meals, facilities, historical society, and local museums/parks).
