Job Summary: The EMS Instructor provides classroom and laboratory instruction to students enrolled in Emergency Medical Services courses and programs at HACC. The instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality education that meets state and national EMS education standards, evaluating student performance, and ensuring compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of EMS, and institutional policies. Instructional assignments will be commensurate with the instructor’s certification level (EMR, EMT, Advanced EMT, Paramedic, PHRN, Critical Care, and other material delivered). 

Minimum Qualifications:

· Current certification in Pennsylvania as an EMS provider (EMR, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic).
· EMS Instructor certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of EMS (or eligibility to obtain within 6 months of hire).
· At least 1 year of documented field experience as an EMS provider at or above the level of instruction.
· Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and, if applicable, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or other advanced credentials consistent with level of instruction.
· Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Commitment to student success and ability to work effectively with diverse populations

Licensing Requirements:

- Valid Driver's License
- Please note that all teaching instructors are required to comply with PA Act 15. You are expected to provide current copies of the following: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Check, and Mandated Reporter Training certificate prior to your first day of employment. These must have been obtained within the last 60 months and for the purpose of employment (not volunteer). You may submit current copies of your clearances to the Office of Human Resources at the time an offer of employment is made.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Associate or higher degree in EMS, Nursing, Education, or related healthcare field.
- Prior teaching experience in EMS education or allied health.
- Experience with simulation-based instruction and educational technology.
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania EMS Education Standards and accreditation requirements

Job Specific Task List:

  • Provide instruction in EMS courses at or below the instructor’s certification level. - (Essential)
  • Develop and deliver lectures, skills demonstrations, and scenario-based training consistent with state and national curricula. - (Essential)
  • Supervise and evaluate student performance in classroom, lab, clinical, and field settings - (Essential)
  • Ensure compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Health EMS Education Standards and community college academic policies. - (Essential)
  • Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and skill competency checklists. - (Essential)
  • Assist with course setup, equipment maintenance, and inventory of EMS training supplies. - (Essential)
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and continuing education as required. - (Essential)
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism, ethical practice, and patient-centered care in EMS. - (Essential)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. - (Standard)
