Job Summary: The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) assigned to the Quick Response Service (QRS) Unit provides rapid assessment, stabilization, and emergency medical care on the community college campus and at designated training events. The EMT responds to medical emergencies, supports fire/rescue training exercises, and assists in maintaining readiness of the QRS unit. Care is delivered in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of EMS regulations and within the EMT scope of practice.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of EMS.
• Current CPR certification (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of Pennsylvania statewide EMS protocols.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in high-stress situations.
Licensing Requirements:
• Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in emergency response, campus-based EMS, or QRS operations.
• Familiarity with educational or training environments.
• Additional certifications (e.g., EVOC, ICS/NIMS, HazMat Awareness, Stop the Bleed).
Job Specific Task List:
- Respond immediately to medical emergencies on campus or at sanctioned training events. - (Essential)
- Assess, treat, and stabilize patients in accordance with Pennsylvania BLS protocols and the scope of practice. - (Essential)
- Provide standby medical coverage for high-risk training activities, public events, and emergency drills. - (Essential)
- Operate and maintain QRS vehicles, equipment, and medical supplies in a state of readiness. - (Essential)
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, campus security, local EMS agencies, and fire/rescue personnel. - (Essential)
- Document all incidents and patient care in compliance with the Bureau of EMS and institutional policies. - (Essential)
- Uphold professional conduct and serve as a role model for students in EMS education programs. - (Essential)
- Performs other related duties as assigned. - (Standard)
