Our Grant Officer Assistant role will support The Lost Dogs’ Home Community Outreach team by identifying and securing grant funding opportunities that align with the organisation’s programs and initiatives.

In this role you will research available grants, assist with preparing grant applications, and contribute to building a sustainable pipeline of funding opportunities to support program delivery and growth.

We've got lots of great ideas, but need funding for them. For example we would love to secure funding for free community dog training, free post-adoption support for adopters and speakers for our events. We are also keen to secure grants for community education initiatives such as tailored education programs for dog owners living in apartments (Highrise Hounds) and cat owners living in curfew areas.

This volunteer opportunity will see you working alongside a supportive team and making a contribution to vital programs that make a real difference for pets and people in the community.

This role would be ideal for a professional seeking to share their expertise in a meaningful volunteer capacity, or a tertiary student looking to build on their research, writing and project coordination experience.

The commitment we're looking for is 4 hours per week, ideally on a Tuesday or Thursday.

As a LDH Grant Officer Assistant you will be responsible for the following:

• Researching and identifying grant opportunities that align with LDH programs and initiatives.
• Assisting in the preparation and writing of grant applications.
• Maintaining a simple register of grant opportunities, deadlines, and outcomes.
• Supporting the Community Outreach team with gathering program information and documentation for applications.
• Providing updates to the Community Outreach Team on grant progress and outcomes.

To be successful in this role, the volunteer will have the following skills and attributes:

Essential:
• Strong written communication skills with attention to detail.
• Organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a small team.
• Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, and Microsoft Suite).
• Commitment to the values and mission of LDH.

Desirable:
• Previous experience with grant research, writing, or fundraising.
• Knowledge of community programs, animal welfare, or not-for-profit organisations.

Due to the popularity of our volunteer program we cannot guarantee that all candidates will be offered a volunteering opportunity and we unfortunately are unable to respond to all applicants. If you miss out this time we encourage you to apply again in future as more opportunities become available.
