Department Summary & Job Purpose: As a certified summer lifeguard, the primary responsibility is to maintain a safe swimming environment by enforcing all pool rules and safety regulations for all people in the pool and immediate area of the Kendall pool located on Mount Holyoke College campus during open swim times and conference times during the summer months. Supervise all swimmers in the pool and surrounding pool area at all times to recognize potential safety concerns, act immediately, and respond effectively and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency or potential emergency. Provide emergency care and treatment as required until emergency medical Essential services arrive and follow department protocol while remaining calm and alert.

Physical Demands:
The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. An interest in swimming and the ability to swim well. Working Conditions: Working in a warm, humid area. Working in water. |
