North Idaho College is seeking a dedicated and skilled Assistant Professor of Welding to join our professional-technical team. This role is ideal for a master craftsperson and educator who is passionate about workforce development and student success. You’ll provide hands-on instruction in OAC, SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW, as well as blueprint reading, layout procedures, metallurgy, and welding shop safety.
We’re looking for someone who brings deep industry expertise and a commitment to excellence in teaching. You’ll thrive in this role if you can translate real-world welding experience into engaging lessons, maintain a safe and functional lab environment, and help students build confidence and competence with industry tools and standards. Strong communication, mentorship, and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate with faculty, support student advising, and stay current with new technologies and instructional practices.

Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of eight (8) years of recent related experience OR an Associate’s degree in a related post-secondary or professional-technical education program and six (6) years of recent experience in an area related to the needs of the position OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related area and three (3) years of recent experience related to the needs of the program. Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from multi-cultural backgrounds. Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.
Required License and/or Certifications:
Journeyman level status, Industry Certification, or Certification/Licensure by passing a State or Certification /Licensure examination.
Starting pay range: $50,553 - $72,670

Work Schedule: This tenure track position has summers off, with pay and benefits spread over 12 months!
