About the opportunity:

As a Community Village Activities Worker, you’ll be the heart of the Far North Coast Community Village. You’ll engage with residents, especially those who’ve experienced the devastating impact of recent floods. Your work will create meaningful activities that foster connection, resilience, and healing.

You will build relationships, identify the needs of residents, and implement community-driven projects that provide hope and comfort. Whether you’re supporting an individual or leading group events, you’ll be providing more than just activities – you’ll be helping people rebuild their lives.

What you’ll do:

  • Engage with young people and the wider community to build trust and rapport.
  • Identify challenges faced by residents and work collaboratively to create activities that uplift and empower.
  • Collaborate with community members to implement projects that strengthen resilience and promote recovery.
  • Be a mentor, a support system, and a facilitator of healing and growth.
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure the community receives the highest quality support.
  • Facilitate youth activities on site

What we’re looking for:

You’re more than a worker – you’re a compassionate leader who listens deeply and acts boldly. You are someone who:

  • Is passionate about community development and youth engagement
  • Understands the challenges faced by those affected by trauma and natural disasters
  • Is skilled in facilitating community-driven initiatives and solution-focused planning.
  • Can connect with diverse groups of people, especially in regional and Aboriginal communities.
  • Is a natural communicator, with excellent skills in advocacy, conflict resolution, and mediation.
  • Minimum Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services or related
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with youth
  • Current drivers license and NSW WWCC

Benefits and culture:

Working to inspire people, enliven communities and confront injustice brings its own rewards, but there’s more.

  • Welcoming you exactly as you are
  • Starting base hourly rate of $43.74 plus super.
  • Access to generous salary packaging options – pay less tax!
  • Career development opportunities
  • Amazing workplace culture
  • Purpose driven career: Be part of an organisation that’s truly making a difference in the lives of families.
  • Enjoy training, mentoring, and the chance to develop new skills.
