About the Role

You will lead the development, management, and implementation of strategic programs that advance key organisational priorities across Local Land Services. This dynamic role spans multiple focus areas including climate resilience, adaptation, sustainability, and other emerging organisational initiatives. You will provide strategic guidance, lead program planning and delivery, and work collaboratively with teams across the state to embed priority issues into our operations and drive impactful outcomes.

Key responsibilities;

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of statewide sustainability and climate risk programs, integrating them into LLS’s strategic objectives and operations to address climate risks and promote sustainability across all areas
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of programs that address organisational priorities and other emerging initiatives.
  • Integrate climate adaptation and environmental sustainability into LLS’s broader strategic and operational frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice on program design, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation to support evidence-based decision-making across the organisation.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to foster a strong culture of sustainability, climate awareness and adaptation across LLS.
  • Manage program budgets and resources effectively to deliver high-impact initiatives on time and to standard, while supporting the organisation’s strategic direction.
  • Negotiate and coordinate contracts, partnerships and collaborative efforts to support effective program delivery
  • Support the development of program management methodologies and enhance capability across the organisation.

About You

You are a results-oriented professional with a proven ability to deliver strategic programs in complex organisational environments. While climate change and sustainability are current areas of focus, we recognise that not all candidates will bring deep expertise in these domains. You demonstrate a genuine interest in climate and environmental issues—or the motivation to quickly build subject matter expertise where needed. Just as importantly, you are flexible and responsive, with the capability to pivot and develop new knowledge as organisational priorities shift. Whether the focus is climate resilience or another emerging initiative, you bring the drive and professionalism to deliver impactful outcomes.

You will also have:

  • Strong knowledge of, or demonstrated interest in climate change, sustainability, and environmental risk management
  • Willingness to be flexible and dynamic, with the ability to quickly develop subject matter knowledge in response to changing program needs and organisational priorities.
  • Experience in program planning, budgeting, and implementation within a government or large organisational context
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills across diverse groups
  • Experience working as part of a steering committee, including translating strategic decisions into actionable program plans and ensuring effective implementation across relevant teams
  • The ability to provide expert technical advice and support on program and policy development
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, including experience working in or leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • High-level communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels
  • A NSW drivers licence and be willing & able to travel, as required.

*To be eligible for the full two-year contract, applicants must currently hold a position at the same or higher grade level than the advertised vacancy (LLS Grade 7 or Clerk Grade 9/10), or be listed on a current and valid talent pool at this grade or above. Applicants who do not meet this requirement may only be considered for a temporary appointment of up to 12 months.
