  • Salary commensurate with experience (Professional Officer Grade 5) $149,739 – 152,730pa. + superannuation

About the Opportunity: 

As a Senior Veterinarian in the National Programs and Engagement team, you will manage NSW’s engagement with the veterinary profession, and contribute to other important programs including NSW’s national animal biosecurity commitments and the H5N1 avian influenza biosecurity preparedness and response programs.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer, our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the animal biosecurity framework in Australia, have outstanding management and communication skills, be adept at stakeholder engagement, and thrive in a collaborative work environment. 

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

  • Manage program delivery, as it relates to NSW DPIRDs engagement with the veterinary profession to foster and maintain strategic and effective relationships with the sector.
  • Prepare and coordinate timely strategic advice, research, information and reports relevant to NSW national biosecurity program commitments. 
  • Work within a collaborative team to ensure that the H5N1 preparedness and response programs align with the strategic objectives of the group and are in line with our legislative requirements and national obligations.  
  • Participate in NSW’s emergency animal disease hotline roster during business hours and after hours (minimal after hours requirement).

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Veterinary Science, registerable in NSW
  • Experience in biosecurity risk management
  • Current NSW Driver Licence
  • Adept at using Microsoft Office apps and electronic record keeping
