About the Role:
The Senior Manager, Aboriginal Engagement leads the Marine Estate Management Strategy Initiative 4 (MEMS I4) protecting Aboriginal cultural values of Sea Country program. You will lead a team in planning and implementing projects that support and increase Aboriginal communities’ participation in the management of Sea Country. The role is integral to the financial accountability and reporting of the MEMS I4 and its linkages with other Strategy initiatives and the Marine Integrated Monitoring Program. This is an Identified role under the Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role.
About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people, government organisations and communities with the ability to communicate across each of these.
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking engagement activities to support integration of Aboriginal culture and cultural values in natural resource management policies and/or programs.
- An understanding and displayed use of effective ways to plan, coordinate and control projects.
- Ability to manage and lead a team working across a wide geographic area.
