The opportunity
This role is responsible for the management, oversight and support of our Home Care Pastoral Care team who deliver emotional and spiritual care to HammondCare at Home clients and Seniors Supported Living Residents, their families, staff and volunteers. Direct support of clients and staff may also be required depending on staffing and service needs.
This is a permanent full-time role or candidates available 4 days per week will be considered and the workload will be adjusted accordingly.
This role will be managing a team across multiple locations within the Sydney region and will require you to travel therefore access to a car and an Australian driver’s licence is a requirement.
This role is open to candidates residing in Sydney, Central Coast or Blue Mountain and offers hybrid working options.

Duties include
- Ensure the effective provision of pastoral care delivery by Pastoral Care Coordinators to clients, their families, staff and volunteers of HammondCare
- Provide administrative support and management supervision/ leadership to a team of pastoral care coordinators
- Act as role models for Pastoral Care Coordinators and staff and as an advocate for the HammondCare Motivation, Mission and Mission in Action
- Share pastoral expertise and coach staff and pastoral care volunteers to support the emotional and spiritual needs and goals of the clients
- Regularly meet/ liaise with Area/Village Managers for the purpose of receiving feedback, identifying need, and reporting back on any changes or developments in the Pastoral Care service
- As required, provide spiritual and emotional support to clients and their families
- Work with direct reports to extend their skills in meeting the spiritual needs of clients/ residents, including identifying suitable learning and development opportunities.
- Train staff and volunteers in areas related to pastoral care, including boundaries, grief and loss, faith and hope, and other areas as identified in conjunction with key stakeholders
- Assist with the development of Pastoral Care Volunteers and their integration in delivery of pastoral care
- Provide prayerful spiritual/emotional support to staff and volunteers, and distribute relevant material, articles and books, as appropriate
- Participate in opportunities such as staff meetings, in-services, expos, and other events with the purpose of providing information about pastoral care opportunities and creating partnerships
Who are you?
- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
- Strong understanding and experience of people living at home with life-limiting illness including dementia, the impact on carers, and journeys of grief and bereavement
- Strong personal and active Christian faith and church involvement
- Theological and/ or Pastoral Care qualifications and experience
- Demonstrated capacity and experience in team leadership, including ensuring effective service delivery
- Demonstrated capacity to pastorally care for and enhance the wellbeing of those in need
- Experience raising up, leading and supporting a team of pastoral care volunteers
- Strong administrative and computer skills
- Highly developed communication skills including listening, compassion and empathy
- Demonstrated ability to relate to people from all faiths, backgrounds and cultures
- Access to a car, Australian driver’s licence and comprehensive car insurance
- Preferred experience in delivery and / or managing pastoral care provision to clients in receipt of Australian Federally funded Home Care Packages
