Work. Are you a Senior Legal professional who can proactively apply legal risk management and build effective relationships? If you are, come and join Sunwater as our Senior Legal Counsel in this 13-month max term position (maternity leave cover), based in our Fortitude Valley office.
As the Senior Legal Counsel, you will take a lead role in supporting the Legal Services and Insurance Manager and assist with day-to-day management of Sunwater’s insurance portfolio whilst also developing strategies and practical solutions to navigate legal issues.
In addition, you will:
- Lead effective partnerships with the business to provide high quality, practical legal advice on complex matters.
- Provide advice regarding legal impacts of operational decisions to positively impact the growth of the business while ensuring regulatory obligations and contractual compliance are satisfied.
- Identify and manage legal risks to protect and enhance the legal position of Sunwater.
- Assist the business with assessing and responding to Right to Information applications.
- Help develop the direction of corporate governance across Sunwater, including in relation to Modern Slavery, Privacy, Human Rights and Public Interest Disclosures.
We are seeking an experienced professional admitted as a solicitor or barrister in QLD with an unrestricted practising certificate. You will have demonstrated technical skills in relevant Federal and State governance and regulatory frameworks and management of legal precedent documents. You will have analytical and conceptual thinking skills and the ability to communicate with influence.
In addition, you will have:
- At least 7 years post admission experience.
- Experience with insurance portfolios and/or corporate governance.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and deliver quality outcomes in accordance with agreed timeframes and within cost.
- Significant experience working independently, autonomously and proactively to identify and resolve complex issues.
