This Behavioral Health Technician 2 will work under the direction and general supervision of a registered nurse while assisting patients according to individual treatment plans and unit policy. This role ensures a therapeutic team approach in the care and treatment of psychiatric patients, and serves as a liaison between nursing and clinical services in carrying out prescribed patient treatment plans. The individual in this role will provide assistance as requested while maintaining unit security along with conducting searches of patients and/or units for contraband. This role will account for objects on the unit which could present a danger to patient and others on unit. The BHT 2 will maintain secured areas and will also utilize NVCI techniques, physically restrains aggressive and/or violent patients. The individual in this role will contribute as an active member of interdisciplinary team and will confer with staff of the various disciplines of ongoing treatment of patients. This role discusses the concerns expressed by patients by listening, offers suggestions, and helping patients with perception, self-realization and orientation, in accordance with programs goals, objectives and treatment plan goals.
