Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) General Services Division (GSD) is seeking a Facilities Technical Manager. This role is critical for providing leadership and direction to the facilities team, ensuring efficient operations, and maintaining high standards of accountability. The successful candidate will also focus on staff development, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and implementing long-range plans for facilities management.

Job Duties:
  • Field work will include troubleshooting complex issues with the building system including, but not limited to general construction, HVAC systems and their components such as controls, VAV’s, and Belimo valves.
  • Implement new energy efficient ways of operating buildings
  • Writing programs in energy management systems such as Niagra AX and N4 Graphical User Workstation for the EMCS system including management of Jace’s and servers
  • Inspects work on buildings at the completion of projects to ensure ADOA work standards are me
  • Meeting with key vendors regularly to review deficiencies and concerns as well as keeping them apprised of changes to ADOA practice
  • Coordinating with key personnel on building equipment requirements
  • Ensures activities are completed in a professional manner in accordance with system standards, manufacturer recommendations and local, state and national codes and other outside regulatory agencies to include OSHA
  • Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies.
  • Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the ADOA values
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Programming building HVAC systems
  • Principles and practices of facilities operations and maintenance
  • Construction principles, methods, techniques
  • Current applicable building and construction codes; statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to areas of assigned responsibility

  • Strong understanding of commercial plumbing, electrical, electronic systems, and HVAC systems

Skills in:

  • Practical application of the principles and practices of facilities operations, maintenance and supervision
  • Interpretation of blueprints and schematics
  • Interpretation and application of current building and construction codes
  • Developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Analysis and problem solving

Ability to:

  • Effectively lead skilled trades engaged in corrective and preventive work 
  • Effectively use a computer and Windows based and other computer software
  • Effectively write code for energy management building programs
  • Effectively work independently and in a team environment
  • Multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
Selective Preference(s):
  • Facility Management Professional (FMP)
  • Five years of progressive responsibility in building HVAC systems of multi-building large commercial facilities
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Background and reference check, including a criminal records verification
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License
