DEIA Senior Administrator

Job Location:

*The primary worksite is the State Capitol Executive Tower at 1700 West Washington Street Phoenix, Arizona 85007*

*Applicants must reside within Phoenix's commuting distance*

*The position offers the potential for remote work up to two days per week at the discretion of the DEIA Director*

Posting Details:

Annual Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 

Grade: 01

Job Summary:

The Governor’s Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) is looking for a highly motivated Senior Administrator with excellent writing, leadership, communication, and organizational skills to provide general DEIA planning, oversight, and consultation as it relates to training, state agency DEIA initiatives, community engagement, and DEIA liaison development.

The Senior Administrator will collaborate with state agencies and external stakeholders to develop and implement strategic initiatives promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

This role will provide DEIA training for liaisons/administrators and provide referrals to local and national resources as needed.

Job Duties:

The DEIA Senior Administrator is responsible for:

• Take initiative and clearly communicate with relevant colleagues and stakeholders to motivate people to take action and keep projects related to DEIA on track

• Partnering with ADOA to complete the Governor’s Office Equal Opportunity annual planning process, including establishing timetables, deliverables, and agency EEO administrator training

• Exercising strong judgment to determine the information that should be elevated to executive leadership and effectively and efficiently communicating the information to a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders

• Oversees the planning process as the primary point of contact for State agencies, compiling, analyzing, and reviewing completed annual EEO plans and identifying areas of adverse and disparate impact

• Conduct audits to assess State agencies’ compliance with federal, state, and local discrimination laws, staying up to date on regulations that may impact EEO planning/compliance

• Collaborating with and advising human resource staff/departments on equal employment opportunity (EEO) and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility concepts, practices, and policies

• Developing and implementing reporting and procedures to assess the effectiveness of State agencies’ EEO and DEIA program implementation

• Collaborating with State agencies to develop a plan of action to address unmet parity needs and reporting of DEIA initiatives

• Managing and facilitating a DEIA community of practice comprised of state agency personnel

• Designing and implementing statewide training programs on DEIA

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

• Principles and concepts of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA)

• Collecting and analyzing data from diverse sources to improve the workplace

• Federal rules and regulations, including civil rights and A.D.A.

Desirable qualifications/skills for the DEIA Senior Administrator, but are not limited to:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering trust and respect and creating friendly and collaborative working relationships with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders

• Familiarity with the State’s human resource management practices on hiring, training, compensation, and reasonable accommodation

• Creating and implementing DEIA policies, procedures, and processes

• Discretion and judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality

• Excellent organizational skills

Ability to:

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high-stakes and fast-paced environment

• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others

• Work effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds

• Develop and implement strategic planning initiatives

• Develop and facilitate DEIA training

Selective Preference(s):

• Strong commitment to the mission and priorities of the Administration

• Certification or experience in DEI

• SHRM - CP or SCP

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Work, Organizational Development, or a related field

• Three or more years of related experience in government, nonprofit, community, or corporate public affairs

• Experience working in the field of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA)

• Program or Project Management experience
