Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Mental Health Program Director. The Mental Health Program Director is a detail-oriented leader responsible for supervising staff, managing schedules, and overseeing mental health services to ensure quality care is provided to the inmate population by the contracted vendor at ADCRR institutions and contracted prisons. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration. The Director engages in financial management, budget planning, and grant applications while recognizing compliance issues and taking corrective actions promptly to ensure adherence to regulations and best practices.

Additional skills required include strategic planning and data analysis, which inform program improvements and enhance service delivery. The Director fosters a supportive work environment, encouraging staff development and training while implementing evidence-based approaches to treatment. The Director aims to improve patient outcomes and promote overall wellness by leading initiatives that broaden access to mental health resources.

Job Duties:

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry has embarked on a vision of REIMAGINING CORRECTIONS through four overarching and mission-centered goals:

Your primary responsibilities will include:

- Ensure vendors provide timely, professional and appropriate mental health treatment to incarcerated individuals in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Review individual inmate cases and charts as needed.
- Provide leadership and direction regarding utilization review processes and review work products and reports.
- Develop and implement monitoring programs, compliance reviews, and action plans related to mental health services.
- Ensure vendors acquire and maintain appropriate censure of the ADCRR behavioral health facility in accordance with Title IX.
- Oversee the program's financial management, develop budgets, and apply for grants and other types of funding.
- Evaluate staff performance

Selective Preference(s):

- Must hold a graduate degree in psychology (MA, Psy.D., Ed.D., or Ph.D.) and a license to practice in Arizona.
- Prefer a minimum of five (5) years experience in correctional mental health treatment and /or administration.
- Prefer a Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP)
- Doctoral or Masters Degree in Mental Health or related field

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid, class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
