Job Summary:

The Arizona State Retirement System is seeking a proactive professional with research and analysis skills along with complex calculation and reconciliation experience to assist with service purchase, service audit, incoming member and employer payments and outgoing Health Benefit and LTD payments on behalf ASRS vendors, 700+ employers and 500,000+ members.

Job Duties:
  • Maintain effective fiscal management by analyzing and interpreting accounting procedures, policies and methods
  • Process and review work completed by associates as it relates to service audits, service purchase, contribution corrections, transfers and payments.
  • Reconcile outgoing payments for health insurance and long term disability.
  • Reconcile incoming employer payments and incoming member service purchase payments received; posted to the ASRS pension administration system and entries in ASRS financial management system to ensure accuracy, completeness and proper crediting of payments.
  • Initiate contact and respond to employers, vendors, and member communication through ASRS secure messaging, email, letters, and/or by telephone as they pertain to the duties listed above.
  • Recognize complex process anomalies and utilize logical problem solving skills to resolve.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state legislation, and ASRS policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Laws, regulations, statutes, and trends in the area of assignment: compliance with rules and regulations

Skilled in:

  • Performing complex mathematical calculations
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills with effective oral and written communication
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and setting priorities
  • Effectively perform benefit premium audits

Ability to:

  • Handle inquiries in a professional, effective and efficient manner
  • Evaluate and improve processes
  • Work independently or as part of a team

Preferences:

  • 1-3 years of experience of government financial reconciliations and/or payroll
  • Bachelor’s degree (Bachelor’s degree may substitute for years of experience)
