This position may offer the ability to work remotely on a hybrid basis, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures

Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Administration, State Procurement Office is searching for a strategic and driven leader to fill the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) position within the Arizona Department of Veterans' Services (ADVS). This role offers the chance to directly impact the lives of veterans by overseeing and optimizing the acquisition of critical goods and services that support ADVS in its mission. The CPO will lead a team of procurement professionals, develop and implement procurement strategies, and act as a key advisor to ADVS leadership, ensuring alignment between procurement activities and the department's strategic objectives. Job Duties:
  • Act as agency Chief Procurement Officer to ensure procurement activities are conducted in an ethical manner with a high level of integrity, while also ensuring compliance to the Arizona Procurement Code
  • Oversee the complex and high visibility procurement operations and services for the Department
  • Establish and enforce applicable agency procurement policies and procedures
  • Issue formal decisions in protests and contracts claims
  • Represent department at formal procurement related hearings (as authorized by applicable department legal personnel)
  • Train and instruct agency and procurement leadership on matters regarding procurement
  • Establish, monitor, and report key performance indicators

  • Translate and interpret contracting requirements including but not limited to governing requirements of procurements, contract goods and services specifications, contract utilization and limitations, and details of procurement

  • Understand any Department procurement exemptions and the limitations of those exemptions where Procurement Code should apply

Selective Preference(s):
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in supply chain management, business, or other closely related field Public procurement experience
