This is a limited funded position expiring December 31, 2024.
The Arizona Attorney General’s Office Civil Litigation Division/Division of Civil Rights Section is seeking a Law Clerk to provide support to the attorneys who enforce the Arizona Civil Rights Act.
Remote Options: This position may be eligible for Remote Work two days a week.
Job Duties: |
This position will be responsible for analysis of legal documents, memorandum, research, and litigation support. Reviews and summarizes interviews and analyzes reports, statistics, documents, and information for investigations and related compliance officer recommendations.
Provide assistance to Compliance Section through attorney memos/answering questions/etc.
Investigates facts; drafts various documents. Conducts legal research. Handles & sorts documentary evidence; summarizes information obtained in interviews, & investigations Organizes materials & evidence gathered for access by attorney. Works with attorney & compliance officers to make recommendations and meet deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
• Knowledge of legal research methods and sources, and the ability to conduct legal research using Westlaw and library materials.
• Knowledge of rules of citation, statutes, and court rules and practices.
• Knowledge of the jurisdictions and functions of local, State and Federal courts and related criminal justice agencies.
• Knowledge of the Civil Rights Act and appropriate statutes.
• Skills in legal research and in the communication of facts and legal theories.
• Advanced and effective skills in both oral and written communications.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work with the public; grasp points being made by others, oral or written.
• Ability to recognize legal issues presented by specific factual situations, this includes the ability to extract information from legal documents and records.
• Ability to use computerized word processing programs.
• Ability to organize large numbers of documents for ready availability to the attorney and others.
• Ability to produce complete, accurate and factual legal research, and summaries of complaints and cases.
• Ability to prepare legal documents, memoranda and correspondence effectively.
Selective Preference(s): |
Civil litigation experience. One-year full-time employment as a paralegal or any equivalent paralegal or legal education and/or experience. Graduated from an ABA accredited law school preferred.

• Travel may be required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
