Job Summary: |
Supervises and performs the performance of the inspection, maintenance, and repair of one or more of the following: traffic signals, lighting, Bluestake, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), tunnel, pump stations. This position requires employees to participate in rotation based 24 hour call back program. Job Duties: |
Performs and supervises electrical, electronic and/or mechanical duties related to routine and non-routine preventive maintenance of traffic signals,
illumination, and telecommunications systems; revamp/installation of traffic signal, illumination, ITS and telecommunications systems (betterment),
tunnel and pump station system.
Plans work/crew assignments. Documents work performed and/or inspected. Evaluates employee performance, hire staff and administers progressive
discipline, coach and mentor subordinate staff. Confers and coordinates with other crew members.
Approves project planning, materials and equipment acquisition, organizes external resources. Red lines plans and infrastructure database management.
Ensures subordinates receive all applicable training.
Authority to approve emergency repairs on traffic signal, roadway illuminations, ITS, telecommunication systems, tunnels and pump station systems.

Selective Preference(s): |
• Associates degree in a applicable field of study
• Supervisor level electrical/electronics background
• 3 years of experience equivalent to a Signal Lighting and Technical Electrical Tech 3
Pre-Employment Requirements: |
• SLATE'S must have successfully completed the CDL permit exam at time of appointment and obtain an Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of appointment
• High school diploma/GED
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
