Employees must currently be a Correctional Officer II with the Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry, have worked a minimum of 12 months at the current division/institution, and have completed original probation.

The Central Office Security Officer is dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming environment. With a friendly demeanor, they actively engage with personnel and visitors, clearly explaining security protocols and quickly addressing concerns. Their presence ensures that everyone feels secure and valued while on the premises.
Job Duties: |
The ideal candidate will inspire respect and authority, possess a high observation level, and have excellent communication / interpersonal skills.
Primary Responsibilities include:

Responding promptly to emergency situations as required

Conducting thorough inspections of the campus to identify potential security risks and hazards

Monitoring surveillance systems and responding to any suspicious activity

Managing visitor access control by verifying credentials and directing foot traffic

Investigate people of suspicious activity or possessions
-
Assisting during crisis situations
-
Effectively de-escalate situations

If this position requires driving or using a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid, class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked or suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
