Job Summary:

The Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled intern to support the state's workforce development evaluation initiatives. The intern will lead an analytic project evaluating the performance of ARIZONA@WORK program(s) on the state’s longitudinal data system.

This role will provide hands-on experience with data science, data analysis, and data management methodologies, and contribute to the development of reports that support strategic decision-making.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Job Duties:

• Collaborate with state agencies and local organizations to integrate analytic findings into workforce development strategies

• Provide support to WIOA state and local boards and workforce partners, including communication of new IDS products

• Track and report key performance indicators related to workforce development performance

• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends and patterns in workforce data

• Assist OEO IDS and Workforce teams with project deliverables as needed

• Develop and publish website and data visualization content

• Lead the development of a workforce evaluation report

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

• Analytic thinking, including ability to apply standard research methodologies, applied statistics, and use of data manipulation techniques

• Obtained or earning bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, statistics, or a related field

• Minimum of one year experience performing analytic work

Skills in:

• Excellent data analysis and visualization skills

• Strong written and oral communication

• Strong problem solving skills

Ability to:

• Ability to collaborate with others, present information to diverse stakeholders, and use data analysis and management software

Selective Preference(s):

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Economics, Data Science, Political Science, Data Management, Statistics, or related field

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Position requires a criminal background (fingerprint) check in accordance with A.A.C. R2-5A-303

•Position requires possession of a Fingerprint Clearance Card
