Job Summary: |
This position is a maintenance position. General repair, maintenance, construction, and troubleshooting of State Parks property, structures and equipment. May include carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, grounds-keeping, painting, welding, painting, equipment operation, and other relevant tasks.
Performs routine tasks assisting with the preventive maintenance and repairs directed from the Construction Services Manager (CSM) or Region Crew Leader (RCL). There are minor maintenance repairs to buildings and their related support services equipment. Responsible for performing all tasks within established guidelines and instructions given, adhering to and demonstrating all safety rules and procedures. Has the authority to work only within established written procedures, practices and instructions directed from the CSM and or RCL. Must be able to detect unsafe work conditions, take emergency action as prescribed, reporting the same to CSM and or RCL.
* May Travel to other parks in the southern region*
** Must be able to work weekends, evenings, holidays and is subject to overnight stays.
Job Duties: |
- General repair, maintenance, construction, and troubleshooting of State Parks property, structures and equipment.
- Maintains a record of materials used, equipment and man hours expended, vehicle mileage and other information as required.
- Gives and receives information using communications devices provided by Arizona State Parks and Trails (ASPT).
- May include carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, grounds-keeping, painting, welding, painting, equipment operation, and other relevant tasks.
- Custodial and routine/preventative maintenance tasks.
- Drives ASPT agency vehicles to Arizona State Parks within the Regions assigned during the daily course of work activities.
- Administrative tasks, including time reporting and data collection/entry relevant to maintenance and repair procedures.
- Performs minor maintenance and repairs to all Park Buildings, Structures and their surfaces.
- Repairs to irrigation and landscaping. Custodial and routine/preventative maintenance tasks.
- Performs minor repairs to various exterior and interior finishes of Park Buildings and Structures.
- Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge of:
- Tools, equipment and materials used for maintenance and repairs in the construction field.
- Basic use of hand and power tools.
- State Parks and Trails Policies and Procedures.
- Basic computer usage and web-based applications.
- Rules and policies governing work activities and safety equipment.
- Methods and techniques used in manual labor tasks.
- Basic and advanced maintenance procedures, industry and trades standard practices relevant to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC etc
- Methods and practices applied in generalized preventative maintenance and repairs.
Skill in:
- Common and general hand and power tools related to the scope of work (SOW).Reading and following verbal and written directions in the SOW for maintenance and repairs.
- Applying and demonstrating the correct methods and practices of the general and manual labor to be completed.
- Determining materials needed for various activities and duties.

- Equipment operation, computer skills, power tool operation and safety, troubleshooting, motor vehicle operation.

Selective Preference(s): |
One year of experience equivalent to a Building Maintenance Specialist, or two years of work experience in the maintenance/ construction field. Any combination of training or do it yourself experience that meet knowledge, skills and abilities may be submitted.Experience with Natural Resources.
Pre-Employment Requirements: |
Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver’s license appropriate to assignment.
