Job Summary: |
The Governor’s Office is seeking a dynamic Operations Advisor to join the team, playing a crucial role in helping the State serve the people of Arizona.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Advisor will facilitate operational effectiveness and advancement of the Governor’s agenda while working independently and in collaboration with the Governor’s Office and state agencies, they will support key projects and initiatives using performance tools and other management frameworks.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment, across different teams and departments, and will be as detail-oriented as they are passionate about helping the State tackle some of its biggest challenges.
The Operations Advisor will contribute actively to an organizational culture that espouses this Administration’s values: accountability, compassion, equity, opportunity and putting people first.
Major Responsibilities: |
• Coordinating and managing interagency meetings, working groups etc, especially to address pressing issues, emergent problems, and special projects
• Developing and implementing tools to track and monitor the progress of initiatives, programs, and other projects; this can include regular reporting and briefings
• Serving as project manager for special initiatives that advance the Governor’s priorities; this includes managing projects from ideation through evaluation phase
• Assisting with pressing operational needs across state agencies in collaboration with senior leadership and the policy team
• Collaborating with various departments to enhance cross-functional communication and project coordination
• Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the Governor’s Office
• Managing performance metrics that ensure alignment and implementation of the Governor’s agenda
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Cabinet Affairs (or their designee)
Desired Skills and Qualifications: |
• Experience in leading meetings and facilitating conversations; ability to use project management tools and frameworks to track progress
• Shows enthusiasm to tackle tough problems; collaborative in their approach to problem solving and overcoming challenges
• Authentic interpersonal skills in dealing with Governor’s Office senior leadership, executive cabinet, and agency staff
• Remains curious and is willing to experiment, ask questions and seek help (and sometimes fail) in small ways
• Comfortable with data operations; advocates for data, evaluation, and the use of science to make decisions
• A forward-looking thinker who actively is connecting the dots, proposing new ideas and solutions
• A willingness to regularly give and receive feedback; approaches work with a growth mindset
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adjust priorities in pressure situations
Job Requirements: |
• 5+ years of experience working in complex organizational structures, including working across teams and departments
• 5+ years of serving as an experienced project manager, managing multiple projects with competing deadlines
• Strong commitment to the mission and priorities of the Administration
• 5+ years of experience in government or a related field
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Job Preferences: |
• Experience, either through education or professional experience, in the areas of public safety, criminal justice, and/or emergency management
