ADG also provides and supports prevention, education, and treatment programs for people and families affected by problem gambling through its Division of Problem Gambling.

Job Summary:

Lead Arizona’s EWFS Gaming Oversight


The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Event Wagering & Fantasy Sports Supervisor to lead a dynamic team dedicated to ensuring compliance with state statutes, rules, and regulations. This supervisory role will oversee the monitoring and auditing of event wagering and fantasy sports operations statewide, while acting as a strategic liaison between the Department, operators, and stakeholders.

Under the direction of the Event Wagering and Fantasy Sports Manager, the Supervisor will ensure that all operators, suppliers, and stakeholders are adhering to established internal controls, technical standards, and reporting procedures. Your Impact:

  • Supervise and support a team of regulatory professionals responsible for oversight of event wagering and fantasy sports operations.
  • Act as the primary liaison for operators, suppliers, and stakeholders, including fielding compliance and patron inquiries, and coordinating investigations.
  • Conduct on-site visits and reviews of operations, including kiosks, terminals, and retail sportsbooks, to assess regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the response to technical change management, disputes, internal controls, and promotional submissions from operators.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal staff and external stakeholders on rules, regulations, standards, and operational requirements.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

As an EWFS Supervisor you will:

  • Supervise and guide staff in compliance monitoring, audits, and investigations.
  • Monitor operators for rule violations, suspicious activity, and system compliance.
  • Review and approve investigative reports, audit documentation, and field notes.
  • Conduct retail site visits to wagering facilities including Off-Track Betting (OTB) locations and operator headquarters.
  • Act as a point of contact for operators, suppliers, and stakeholders when the Manager is unavailable.
  • Approve user access to Debt Setoff and Visual Vault portals.
  • Ensure compliance with operators' internal controls, house rules, terms of service, and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with technical reviews including promotions, bonuses, disputes, and IT-related audits.
  • Deliver training sessions for both internal teams and external operational partners and stakeholders.
  • Lead through team-building, mentoring, and coaching to support operational excellence.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Arizona Event Wagering and Fantasy Sports rules, statutes, and regulations
  • Auditing and investigative techniques
  • Event wagering systems, including platforms, kiosks, and terminals
  • Sports betting and fantasy sports contest structures and terminology
  • Surveillance requirements and control system evaluation
  • Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Salesforce, and gaming-related IT systems
  • Leadership principles and the Arizona Management System
  • Confidentiality and handling of sensitive regulatory matters

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)

Retirement:

To help you build a financially secure future, the State makes monthly contributions to finance your retirement benefit. The State will contribute to the ASRS in an amount equal to your contribution. In other words, you and the State will each pay 50% of the total cost of the benefit. New State employees have a 27-week wait period for contributions to begin.
