DES is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Strategy and Compliance Manager for the Division of Financial Operations. This position reports to the Assistant Director of the Division of Financial Operations and is responsible for the strategy development and compliance, implementation, and ongoing management of complex projects related to the Division’s strategic priorities, Annual Improvement Plan, and overall support of Department business priorities.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties: |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Manages and leads strategic projects for the Division.
• Works in partnership with Divisions, State agencies, and Federal partners on complex large-scale projects.
• Leads planning and/or implementation of projects.
• Solicits and evaluates internal and external customer feedback to enhance continuous quality improvement.
• Develops and implements strategic project plans to achieve business goals.
• Proactively leads projects by setting project direction, creating a project plan, setting a timeline, identifying key milestones and additional resources needed for the Division’s strategic priorities, and supporting client Divisions.
• Develops methods to monitor project or area progress, and takes corrective action.
• Manages project budget and resource allocation.
• Develops project scope and estimate milestones and schedule.
• Tracks progress and communicates project status regularly to all impacted parties within the Department and other State agencies.

Selective Preference(s): |
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field and five (5) or more years of experience in Project Management.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
Pre-Employment Requirements: |
• If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
• Successfully pass background and reference check; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the Agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

Retirement: |
State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
