Job Summary: |
Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of work activities while providing customer service in the operation of a recreational, historic or natural resource park; interprets natural features of the area, or historic objects/artifacts for visitors; and ensures public safety by enforcing Park rules and regulations.
- This position will serve as a team leader for grounds-keeping activities, orchard care, vehicle and equipment maintenance, and heavy equipment operator.
Job Duties: |
Outdoor Recreation & Programmatic
- Hosts visitors.
- helps train staff and volunteers.
- Conducts interpretive programs and lead guided walks or hikes.
- Provides information in response to visitor questions, direction, guidance, and concerns.
- Update social media Facebook page and create interpretive videos to promote the park, nature, and conservation.
Customer Service:
- Provides customer service by phone and in-person and respond to publics inquiries about park hours, accommodations, and reservations.
Cash Handling:
- Perform cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift shop and account for fees for the park admission and store purchases.
Public & Staff Safety:
- Promote the safety of park visitors, enforces Park rules, and protect Park resources.
- Utilizes two-way radio communications system.
- Confers with local officials and law enforcement officers, completes all necessary reports concerning incidents.
- Assists park management with maintaining/inspecting park infrastructure and training implementation/development.
Reporting:
- Completes reports regarding activities, transactions and progress relating to maintenance activities.
- Lead and assist in training of subordinate staff.Maintenance.
Maintenance: Serve as the primary leader in performing basic maintenance and inspection of park infrastructure, buildings and equipment for the park. Troubleshoot, repair and install restroom fixtures/toilets, build fences, perform trail maintenance, general plumbing, preventative maintenance, landscaping, minor electrical repairs/troubleshooting, oil changes/fluid maintenance of vehicles/equipment, and wastewater/water system maintenance.
Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Knowledge of:

- Park rules/ regulations, fees and revenue functions.
- Techniques for display and interpretation of objects/ artifacts and general resources to visitors.
- Working knowledge of maintenance strategies

- Driving and operating automotive equipment.
- Basic curatorial techniques.
- Natural resource management, basic maintenance troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance skill sets in areas such as landscape, orchard care, vehicle and equipment maintenance plumbing, electrical and general construction/building maintenance.

Selective Preference(s): |
Two years experience equivalent to a Park Ranger II, OR three years of work experience in customer service and maintenance in park related setting; OR a Bachelor's degree in Park Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field. Any combination of training and experience that meet knowledge, skills, abilities may be substituted.
Pre-Employment Requirements: |
- Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver's license appropriate to assignment.
- Some positions may require certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, Water Distribution and Treatment Systems Operator, and/or Certified Interpretive Guide.
