Job Summary: |
The Financial and Employer Services Division of the Arizona State Retirement System is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the Member Benefits Program Manager, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Member Benefits team, which disburses nearly $4 billion annually in benefits through 2 million individual payments.
Primary responsibilities will be: (not intended to be an all-inclusive list) |
- Oversee the work performed in the Member Benefits team which includes reviewing and calculating new retirees, survivor benefits, complex refunds, pension audits and adjustments.
- Manage team workflow by planning, prioritizing, and scheduling work; recommend and implement process improvements.
- Supervise, coach, and inspire team members; set clear performance expectations; conduct evaluations and foster professional development.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with applicable codes, laws, and regulations.
- Resolve technical, procedural, and escalated member issues related to retirement benefits
- Compile data and produce reports on the team's activities and outcomes.
- Collaborate across ASRS divisions and maintain effective working relationships.
- Partner with the Technology Services Division (TSD) on system-related projects, service requests, and issue resolution.
- Develop and implement agency policies and procedures to support program efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Competencies/Skills: |
- At least five years’ experience in banking, pension, government or client/customer service industry
- Experience in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with all levels of the organization
- Strong project management skills
- Exceptional skills in identifying/analyzing organizational and/or procedural problems and determining and implementing effective solutions
- Ability to review work and meet deadlines with accuracy
- Proven ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral format
- Experience with training an developing staff, performance reviews, and handling related employee issues.
Selective Preferences:
- Five years of supervisor/leadership experience
- Prefer Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration or related field
