JOB SUMMARY:
The Arizona Public Safety Personnel Retirement System is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Data Analyst Intermediate located in Phoenix, Arizona. Under the direction of the Data Scientist Senior, the Data Analyst Intermediate will collect data, interpret results, and present findings in reports and dashboards as appropriate. This position will also assist in the development of financial and statistical models and will present findings to members of the Investment and Investment Operations teams.
This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (2-3 days per week in the office/hoteling).

Job Duties: |
- Collect, clean, and validate data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Reconcile data across various platforms to identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Conduct data analysis on specific areas of the investment portfolio using appropriate statistical and analytical techniques.
- Coordinate with external partners by preparing, managing, and delivering data feeds in support of collaborative initiatives.
- Support the Investment team with insights related to portfolio performance, due diligence, and risk assessment.
- Research and evaluate new data sources, tools, and applications to enhance data-driven decision-making.
- Deliver data-driven insights through reports, presentations, and verbal communication to the Investment team, Board of Trustees, and other key stakeholders as needed.
- On as-needed basis, assists Investment Operations team with various transaction/ performance reporting projects and related tasks.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge of:
- Data gathering, cleaning and transforming techniques.
- Statistical software products (R and/or Python preferred).
Skill in:
- Coding in languages (R and/or Python preferred).
- Reporting and data visualization.
- Technical writing.
- Analysis and problem solving.
Ability to:
- Collaborate effectively within a small, cross-functional team to achieve defined goals and performance targets.
- Work with large and complex datasets, applying exploratory data analysis techniques to uncover trends and insights.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data analysis and reporting.
- Effective communication: verbal, written, and active listening. Ability to ‘translate’ complex technical results and concepts to various stakeholders.
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Selective Preference(s): |
Bachelor's degree in related field and experience in hands-on data analysis.
