    This position, which reports to the Newborn Screening Program Assistant Bureau Chief, is responsible for management oversight of all activities associated with the laboratory and demographic departments within the Newborn Screening Program. The Newborn Screening Office Chief is responsible for assuring that all procedures and protocols are conducted according to the Arizona State Public Health Laboratory policies and according to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines. This position fulfills the role as Technical Supervisor for the sub-specialties of Chemistry, Hematology, and Endocrinology under CLIA regulations. This position is in charge of workload review, policy establishment, technical guidance, lab safety, and all aspects of quality assurance including procedural manual reviews, staff training, internal and external proficiency reviews, and equipment preventive maintenance. Responsibilities also encompass management of program budgets to include budget preparation and approval of supplies and equipment purchases. This position will participate in writing of grant proposals and is accountable for grant deliverables as it relates to laboratory testing.

Each youth who is placed in our secure care facility shall receive rehabilitative services appropriate to the youth's age, needs and abilities, including education, counseling, mental health services, recreation and vocational training.
