      This position is assigned to our Internal Audit group within the ADHS Business Financial Services unit and works under general supervision of the Internal Audit Manager, Audit Supervisor and/or Accountant 3. Performs accounting and audit work requiring the practical application of accounting and auditing principles, theories, concepts, practices and policy reference materials. Performs basic accounting and/or audit assignments including collaborating with audit staff members on identifying audit findings in order to expand practical experience and continue development of professional judgment in analyzing internal controls. Assists the Audit Supervisor and Accountant 3 in developing draft procedures and reports associated with accounting and audit work. Responsible for reviewing Contractor Expenditure report (CER) and COVID-19 invoice expenditures for compliance with federal grant and/or emergency order requirements prior to issuing payment to contractors.

    • EARLY CARE & ED SYSTEM SPECIALIST in various locations

      The Early Care and Education (ECE) Systems Specialist will support the AZ Health Zone SNAP-Ed program by leading the integration of trauma-informed approaches and community engagement into the ECE focus area. This role will plan and implement ECE goals and objectives that advance policy, systems, and environmental change initiatives in collaboration with Arizona ECE providers. The Specialist will facilitate the development of implementation resources, guidance documents, and other materials in partnership with both local and statewide stakeholders, ensuring all resources are developed through a trauma-aware lens and reflect Arizona’s unique context. Key responsibilities include writing and managing contracts related to ECE training and support, and working closely with contracted local implementing agencies to review and approve action plans and budgets. The Specialist will also provide technical assistance, conduct site visits across Arizona, deliver training, and facilitate and convene committees and workgroups to tailor program delivery to both rural and urban communities. This position requires staying current on relevant child care and SNAP-Ed policies and regulations, interpreting their impact, and translating this knowledge into clear guidance and resources for program staff and partners. The ECE Systems Specialist will also build capacity among stakeholders around nutrition and food access, farm to ECE initiatives, child nutrition programs, learning collaboratives, and physical activity integration. The role includes representing AZ Health Zone ECE work among state and local partners such as the Empower Advisory Committee, the Early Childhood Nutrition Policy Team, the Go NAPSACC State Administrative Team, and other statewide and national groups to share insights and promote best practices in ECE systems change.

    • BUREAU CHIEF EMS AND TRAUMA SERVICES (BEMSTS) in PHOENIX

      This position manages a staff charged with licensing, monitoring, inspecting, and enforcing statutes and rules for emergency medical care technicians (EMCTs), EMCT training programs, base hospitals, trauma centers, air and ground ambulance organizations, and vehicles. Oversee the collection and analysis of data from EMS agencies and trauma hospitals, developing public health and quality improvement reports, managing, and encouraging participation in EMS and trauma quality improvement initiatives, and facilitating and managing three statutory advisory bodies and standing committees on behalf of ADHS.

      This position is responsible for the planning and supervision of all activities and programs within the Bacteriology Section. This would include supervising and reviewing the laboratory testing of priority biological agents classified as select agents; providing interpretation of laboratory results; providing consultation and training for staff, physicians and laboratories; developing and implementing new laboratory testing methods; budgeting and forecasting; and interfacing with federal, state and county health and regulatory agencies.

Corresponds with the regulated community or with regulatory bodies, responds to technical questions from licensees, develops standards, participates in rule-making, and conducts inspections. Performs, assists or reviews detailed investigative or inspection reports, statements of deficiencies, and correspondence regarding changes in the status of a licensee’s license, or other types of legal orders.
