Hybrid: remote and 1110 W. Washington St., Suite #310 - Phoenix, AZ 85007

Salary:  $16.50 hourly

Job Summary:

Candidates for this internship position must be enrolled in school and pursuing a degree in law or a related field

This internship is a part-time position at an hourly rate of $16.50

Job Duties:

Responsibilities include:

  • Primary deliverable:  A memorandum on the legislative history of the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Act funding and the Arizona Water Settlements Act effect on Arizona's contributions to the Lower Basin Fund.
  • Monitor and take notes on meetings of various Board of Directors around the Colorado River Basin.
  • May be asked to work on discreet Colorado River entitlements questions.
  • Filing (if on-site).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

The ideal candidate should have :

  • Experience with or interest in Western Water Law and Administrative Law.
  • Experience researching legislative history including committee reports, floor debate, and conference reports.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Skills in:

  • Excellent written communication skills are essential
  • Skill in researching and analyzing water resources information from historic documents, photographs, maps, etc.
  • Skill in file/records maintenance, including computerized database information input/retrieval.
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills

Ability to:

  • Rapidly advance knowledge and skill in above listed areas as necessary to accomplish internship goals.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects by setting priorities with excellent follow-through.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and written format
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated.

Candidates must be enrolled in graduate school and ideally pursing a degree in law or related policy field.
