Job Summary:

Performs a broad scope of high level striping operational duties. Including scheduling, assigning and overseeing Crew/Org work, Inspecting work, training and guiding staff, maintain employee performance planners, assisting in the hiring process and interviews for new employee candidates, report and/or resolve conflicts related to the most advanced duties involved in items such as operation of motorized vehicles and equipment.

Troubleshooting and preventive maintenance and repairs on high/low pressure air, hydraulic and paint systems on striping equipment. Assists with striping schedule, office administration record keeping, material inventories statewide, data entry, maintaining a retroreflectometer database on different state routes and Interstates. and environmental compliance.

May inspect, determine need for,and schedule repairs of equipment, including emergency repairs that would affect integrity of the highway system.

Read, interpret, and apply specifications and drawings;purchase materials and supplies and inspects materials and products for acceptance; recommend improvements in work process. Statewide travel is required Monday - Thursday.

Job Duties:

Operates and trains others on truck-mounted and/or stand alone motorized vehicles and power/non powered equipment and tools
to properly perform assigned work duties. as described in hob summary including flagging operations. Vehicles and equipment included but not limited to large trucks, large trailers, variable message boards, paint trucks, and attenuators. Includes the required maintenance check and minor servicing to comply with laws, rules, policy and procedures.

Providing administrative support to the supervisor. Items such as manpower and operational planning. preparing daily/weekly activity and operational reports, monthly material inventory data entry into the Work Management System (Pecos). Preparing a quarterly striping schedule. Interpreting agency rules and regulations, investigating customer concerns, resolving problems or referring to the supervisor, modifies routine procedures to make improvements, coordinates and oversees program activities.

Monitors section equipment usage and makes contact with Equipment Services to schedule preventive maintenance and repairs.

Inspects coordinate and repairs system features and.components, makes and periodic adjustments, checks for performance, and documents status for electronic management and data storage records. System features include but not limited to striping and pavement markings.

Helps conduct annual employee evaluations, report and/or resolve conflict. Assist with overseeing and coordinating recruitment and staffing. Assists with interviews for new employee candidates Coordinates HR matters with ORG, units and prepares input and documents, new hire paperwork, and benefits forms for accuracy and the training and coaching of the employees is effective and timely for the development of skilled workforce.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:
-Extensive knowledge of procedures, practices and methods of the operation, preventive maintenance and minor repair of vehicles and equipment used in striping operations.
-In ORG and established office procedures, procurement, PECOS reporting and coding, inventory and customer relations, of leadership and coaching, of federal, state, and agency laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to work activities, safety practices and public relations.
-Wide-range knowledge of materials, equipment and tools used in work activities and established work methods and standards, of procedures and practices established for the work section.
-Of MUTCD traffic control for work zones, of Math, English, Grammar.
-Knowledge of Google Suite and other Computer systems.

Selective Preference(s):

-Traffic Control; Work Zone certifications.
-2-3 years experience equivalent to a Highways Operations Tech. II
-1-2 years experience equivalent to a Highways Operations Tech. Ill

Pre-Employment Requirements:

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Commercial Drivers License with appropriate endorsements.
