Job Summary:

This position supports all sections within the Bridge Group and provides user support for PC and CADD workstations. Manages and maintains various bridge and geotechnical computer applications. Maintains servers and licensing in support of design and database applications and develops reports in support of bridge construction cost reporting. Manages the groups drone fleet and performs drone missions in support of geotechnical and bridge inspection needs.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Provides highly technical computer expertise to support all Sections within the Bridge Group. Provides CADD and design
software and hardware support. Troubleshoots and tests bridge group software applications to solve issues regarding
performance or inoperability. Coordinates with other subject matter experts in the technical groups on digital delivery
processes and applications.

Manages and maintains bridge applications software and updates on bridge client PCs and various servers. Manages
vendor licensing requirements. Keeps Bridge PC Image up-to-date. Coordinates with ITG on computer upgrade needs and
software requests. Supports the various units drives for document storage. Keeps track of all Bridge Equipment Transfers.

Manages the group’s fleet of drones. Maintains and updates firmware and software in support of drone use. Manages
necessary replacement or repair needs of the drone inventory and makes recommendations for upgrades or replacement needs. Assists the group with FAA licensing requirements and pilot certification for others in the unit.

Tests and Upgrades AASHTOWare Bridge Rating ( BrR) database on SQL server and Open Database Connectivity (ODBC)
clients. Researches and evaluates new products and methods. Reviews and recommends approval of software and hardware procurement. Coordinates PC Refresh Operations.

Writes or prepares detailed reports based on research, analysis and evaluation of engineering data. Generates and submits Annual Bridge Unit Cost (BUC) Report. Updates Bridge Group Web Page.

Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:
Knowledge of CADD policies and procedure
Knowledge of CADD software applications
Knowledge of website maintenance, PC Image update and vendor licensing

Skills:
Skill in research and development of engineering hardware and software.
Skill in analyzing and evaluating engineering data
Skill in written and oral communication
Skill in using Google Workspace

Ability:
Ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware and software.
Ability to gather and maintain information for multiple databases.
Ability to maintain liaison between different groups including ADOT Information Technology Group (ITG).

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or a closely related field and two years equivalent to a Transportation Engineering Associate;

OR three years’ experience at a Senior Transportation Engineering Technician level (grade 18 or above); OR completion of the Arizona Department of Transportation Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) program;

OR registration as a professional civil engineer in the State of Arizona.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

A valid Arizona Driver’s license with an acceptable 39 month MVR history.
